Spring 2020 Season Cancellation

Woodville Little League Families,

We hope this email finds you and your family doing well and staying safe.

As most of you are aware, Little League International made the decision to cancel the 2020 World Series and Regional Tournaments for the first time in organization history. Little League has encouraged local leagues to resume play where allowed based on local and state guidelines. Woodville Little League met multiple times and made every attempt to salvage our Spring 2020 Little League Season. Since Leon County has not opened its sports fields for Little League game play, all District 20 leagues have canceled their Spring 2020 seasons. Since all other leagues in our district have canceled their spring seasons, unfortunately Woodville Little League is also officially canceling our Spring 2020 season. 

The Woodville Little League board met on Wednesday, June 17th to make decisions as to if and how refunds could be issued since we were unable to finish out our Spring Season. A decision was made to issue a $15 refund to each player who paid registration fees for the spring 2020 season. Since the league has already incurred many of the fees associated with Spring Season, this was the maximum amount that could be refunded based on the expenses already incurred by Woodville Little League.

The refund checks will be available for pick up at the park concession stand on Wednesday, June 24th from 6-8pm or Sunday, June 28th from 4-6pm. If you are unable to pickup your check on either of those two dates, please reach out to us via email ([email protected]) by Sunday, June 28th at 6pm. Any checks not picked up by June 28th, will be considered a donation to the Woodville Little League general fund. All refund checks will be made payable to the person who registered the child for the spring season and will need to sign that they have received the check.  

Looking ahead to the Fall Season, plans are in place for Fall Season registration to begin August 1st and end August 30th. Games are scheduled to begin around September 14th and end around October 31st. Fees for Fall Ball will be $50 for Teeball / Machine Pitch and $60 for Minors / Majors. Our sponsors from the Spring Season will be recognized for our Fall Season with team names being the same as the Spring Season. These plans are tentative and are based on the county opening up the fields for game play by August 1st. Should the fields not be open for game play by August 1st, these dates may be adjusted to try and accommodate for as much of a fall season as possible. 

We have thoroughly missed seeing all of our families at the park and look forward to seeing you soon!

Spring 2020 Season Changes

Concession Volunteer Expectation of One Game a Season
In order for the concession to continue to operate without interruption, we are going to try something new for the spring season. We hope this will eliminate the same parents from having to volunteer multiple times and encourage other parents to volunteer.

Many other parks expect parents to volunteer in concession for at least one game day of each child registered's season and this is the expectation we are setting for the Woodville Little League. Parents will be expected but not required to volunteer for one game a season for each team they have a child playing on. Once the season schedule is announced, your "team Parent" will assign a date that, each child is responsible for. Since multiple teams play each night, there will be multiple volunteers each night. We understand that everyone has commitments, life is busy and we all want to watch our kid play ball. We are simply asking for you to volunteer one night or find someone that can volunteer in your place for your assigned night. We will need at least one person in concession over 18 that will be able to handle the fryer and other hot food prep. All other volunteers need to be at least 13.

If we are not able to consistently keep volunteers in concession, there is a very good chance our registration fees for future seasons will increase as the profits made in the concession stand help offset and lower everyone’s registration fees. please remember that everyone you see in concession, coaching or organizing the Woodville Little League are all volunteers.

Incentives for Reduced Registration Fees if you bring a New Sponsor
Sponsorship Incentives are being added for reduced registration fees for families who bring a sponsor to the Woodville Little League. Since the Woodville Little League is a volunteer organization, we rely heavily on sponsors to keep our registration fees down. A majority of our sponsors have been business owners who have family members who have played or currently play at Woodville Little League. If you are a business owner, we would love for you to sponsor a team! If you don't have a business, we would love for you to ask your family, friends or employers if they would like to sponsor the Woodville Little League. Depending on what type of sponsorship they are willing to sponsor will depend on what incentive you receive.

1. For families who bring a NEW full sponsorship ($500 Sponsor) to the park, they will receive one free registration for the  Spring Season

2. For families who bring a NEW Banner Sponsorship ($350 Sponsor) to the park, they will receive 50% off one registration for the  Spring Season.

Incentive for Head Coaches to Receive 50% Refund of One Registration Fee
Coaching Incentives are being added to help encourage more people to be Head Coaches. We recognize that most want to be an assistant coach, so we are offering incentives for more coaches to step up into the Head Coach role. For  those who complete a season as a head coach, you will receive 50% refund* one registration at the end of the Spring 2020 Season. 
*This will be a post season refund.

Coaches Will be Evaluated & Voted on by the Board
The Woodville Little League board will evaluate all Volunteer Coach registrations and the board will vote on coaches for the Spring 2020 Season. 

Players Camps & Coaches Camps
The End of Season Surveys showed an interest in seeing more player camps and coaches camp. We will start the season with a coaches camp and players camp on February 1st. We will work to try for more camps throughout the year.

Team Manager App for Communication & Scorekeeping
Each team will have a Team Manager account setup for use on the App. This app is great for team communication and scorekeeping. Allowing parents not at the game to get live updates of the game.

Weeball will not be offered.
Wee ball will not be offered for Spring 2020. The starting division for the Woodville Little League park will be Teeball which starts at League Age four. Please see the Little League Teeball Link below for more

Woodville Little League Day at FSU
Woodville Little League will be announced at a Spring FSU Baseball Game during the Spring 2020 FSU Baseball season. This will be a great opportunity for the kids in our league to wear their team jersey and go down on the field for the National Anthem. This will be a fun day enjoying a college baseball game with the Woodville Little League. Date is April 26th at 1pm. Tickets are $3 with promo code homerunwoodville. Tickets go on sale February 10th at 9am.
